AIR ONTARIO TO OPERATE NON-STOP OTTAWA/NEWARK SERVICE BEGINNING SEPT. 13, 1993

LONDON, Ontario, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Air Ontario has announced that it will begin non-stop direct service between Ottawa and Newark, New Jersey on Sept. 13, 1993. The airline has been granted U.S. Department of Transport approval, the final step in its route application process; Canadian approval was granted June 23, 1993.
In addition to the four return flights Air Ontario currently operates on this route via Toronto Island, the airline will be adding one non-stop round trip. Scott Tapson, Director of Commercial Services for Air Ontario, stated, "We will be monitoring performance on this route to determine if additional non-stop flights are feasible in 1994."
Tapson went on to say, "The schedule has been designed to provide convenient options for passengers traveling locally between Ottawa and Newark and to facilitate connections to and from Continental Airlines at Continental's Newark hub."
Air Ontario has a variety of joint fares with Continental to several destinations throughout the northeastern U.S., along the eastern seaboard and throughout Florida. In addition, Aeroplan members, One Pass members and Mileage Plus members can earn frequent flyer points on Air Ontario.
Air Ontario, one of five Air Canada Connector carriers, is Ontario's leading regional airline, serving London, Ottawa, North Bay, Sarnia, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, Thunder Bay, Timmins, Toronto Pearson, Toronto Island, Windsor, Montreal and Winnipeg. With more regularly scheduled daily flights to these destinations than any other airline, it also offers direct flights into the U.S. to Newark, Hartford, Cleveland and Baltimore-Washington.
