AIR NEW ZEALAND ADDS NEW LAX-AUCKLAND SERVICE; 600-SEAT INCREASE SCHEDULED TO MEET GROWING CUSTOMER DEMAND

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Nov. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Air New Zealand will add three new weekly flights from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) via Honolulu to Auckland, New Zealand, effective Jan. 5, 1994, to meet the demands of U.S. travelers, officials announced this morning.
Flights will depart on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, adding more than 600 seats to the LAX-Auckland route. Air New Zealand will also increase the number of trans-Tasman flights, making the connection between New Zealand and Australia for long-haul U.S. passengers even more convenient.
"In October, Air New Zealand announced the addition of 400 seats per week to our existing schedule," said Norm Thompson, senior vice president-the Americas in El Segundo. "Since then, we have analyzed our booking trends and responded to our customers' demands for a significant increase in seat capacity."
"New Zealand has quickly become one of the hottest destinations in the world," said Kathy Ward, regional vice president-the Americas for the New Zealand Tourism Board in Los Angeles. "We are delighted that Air New Zealand is adding this extra capacity to accommodate the growing number of visitors to New Zealand."
The three additional flights will bring Air New Zealand's total services from LAX to Auckland to 17 flights per week, including the carrier's non-stop services from LAX to Auckland.
Air New Zealand's award-winning service and extensive Coral Route(TM) Network provides more flights more often to more countries in the South Pacific than any other carrier. From Los Angeles, Air New Zealand also flies passengers in non-stop comfort to Frankfurt, Germany, and London, and to the Orient and Southeast Asia via the South Pacific. As an added convenience for U.S. passengers, Delta Air Lines, USAir and Midwest Express frequent flyer members can earn mileage and take advantages of benefits when flying on Air New Zealand.
