AIR METHODS CORP. TO ACQUIRE NEW BEECH AIRCRAFT FLEET AND RECEIVE 'FLEET RECOGNITION' DESIGNATION

Commitment to Purchase Two King Air B-200 Turbo-Prop
Airplanes Demonstrates Continued Rapid Growth of
 Company's Medical Airplanes Division
DENVER, Dec. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Air Methods Corp. (NASDAQ-NMS: AIRM), the nation's largest exclusive provider of air medical systems and services, today announced its intent to acquire two new Super King Air B-200 Turbo-Prop airplanes from Beech Aircraft Corp. of Wichita, Kan. In connection with this undertaking, Air Methods Corp. today also announced its anticipated receipt of a "fleet recognition" designation directly from Beech Aircraft Corp. This fleet recognition award will allow the company to benefit from various operating, servicing, and financial incentives provided by Beech Aircraft Corp. to prominent end users of its aircraft. The company intends to utilize these economic benefits in a manner to expand its market share consistent with its overall medical helicopter division growth. Together, these two commitments illustrate the company's continuing utilization of medically equipped airplanes as it realizes further rapid growth in the air medical business sector.
Air Methods' procurement of this aircraft fleet is consistent with recent announcements illustrating the company's accelerated growth of its medical airplane division. For example, the company's announcement earlier this week regarding the addition of a second medical aircraft contract with P/SL Swedish Healthcare Systems Inc. of Denver contemplates the utilization of a portion of this yet-to-be-acquired Beech Aircraft fleet. Additional announcements can be expected to this end.
The Super King Air B-200 Turbo-Prop aircraft is a superior cabin class aircraft capable of the transporting of two medical patients, together with necessary medical support personnel. The aircraft has been utilized in the air medical marketplace for some time and set the standard for medical fixed wing delivery of acute care patients. The company intends to expand into this marketplace as a complement to its existing medical helicopter market leadership position.
Air Methods Corp. is the largest exclusive provider of state-of-the- art emergency air medical transportation systems and services to hospitals in North America. Air Methods now serves 54 hospitals in 14 states under 23 dedicated, long-term operating agreements throughout America and will shortly begin providing similar emergency air medical services throughout Mexico, as previously announced. The company utilizes only Instrument Flight Rule (IFR)-certified pilots and aircraft, including 30 helicopters and 14 airplanes, to perform these services. In addition, Air Methods offers completely integrated airborne medical systems for administering intensive care patients while flying to a trauma center or a tertiary care facility, either from outlying hospitals or the scene of an accident.
