AIR CANADA WILL EXPAND AND IMPROVE NEWARK OPERATIONS

NEW YORK, March 18 /PRNewswire/ -- This summer Air Canada is increasing its flights from Newark International Airport to Canada with the following schedule (fewer flights on weekends):
-- Number of daily flights to Toronto will be increased from four to five (effective May 3) and from five to six (effective July 5).
-- Number of flights to Montreal will be increased from one to three daily on July 5.
-- A once daily non-stop flight (including weekends) to Calgary will be introduced on June 20 and will operate until the end of October 1993.
Air Canada will move from its present location at Newark's Terminal B to Continental's Terminal C on or about July 1, 1993. The move will make it possible for Air Canada and Continental to co-ordinate their respective flight schedules to achieve maximum mutual marketing opportunities that will be part of the upcoming partnership agreement between the airlines when it is finalized. Air Canada's move to Continental's major "hub" in the northeast U.S. will allow Continental passengers to connect to Air Canada's vast number of Canadian destinations, and conversely Air Canada passengers from Canada can easily connect to Continental's flights throughout the U.S.A.
On March 13, 1993, Air Canada moved from the USAir terminal at LaGuardia to the main terminal building, adjacent to Continental's gates in Concourse A. From LaGuardia Air Canada operates up to 13 flights daily, and during the peak summer period, Air Canada and its Connector carriers will operate up to 30 flights daily to Canada from the metropolitan New York area (LaGuardia and Newark); more than any other airline.
