AIR Announces Additions to Its Management Team.Business Editors BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 18, 2000 Applied Insurance Research (AIR), the Boston-based catastrophe and weather risk modeling firm, announced today five new additions to its management team. Paul Devlin has joined the AIR Operations group as Vice President and General Counsel. In addition to managing the growing AIR Human Resources The fancy word for "people." The human resources department within an organization, years ago known as the "personnel department," manages the administrative aspects of the employees. staff worldwide, Mr. Devlin will assume responsibility for the Legal and Contracts functions of the company. Mr. Devlin brings to AIR eighteen years of legal expertise as well as many years' financial, engineering, human resources, and property and casualty insurance experience. Dr. Roger Grenier has been promoted to Manager of AIR's Services and Analytics group. In his new role, Dr. Grenier will be responsible for managing the scope, timelines, and production of AIR's consulting projects. His focus will be on facilitating client communications, efficient processes, staff training, and quality assurance. In addition to consulting and client management expertise, Dr. Grenier has over ten years of experience in civil engineering, numerical modeling, and hazards assessment. Previously, Dr. Grenier was a member of AIRs research and modeling team. Dr. Jayunta Guin has been promoted to Assistant Vice President, Research and Modeling. In his new position, Dr. Guin will manage research and development projects for all AIR models. He will also be responsible for streamlining the process of integrating models into AIR's software products in order to provide reliable and efficient risk analysis and ensure timely and accurate delivery of products to clients. Geotechnical engineering includes investigating existing subsurface conditions and materials; assessing risks posed by site conditions; designing earthworks and aspects of the AIR earthquake modeling technology. He was also a member of the CLASIC/2(TM) software development team. Kristen Jones has joined AIR as Assistant Manager of AIR's Service and Analytics group. As Assistant Manager, Ms. Jones assumes a new position within AIR in which she will be responsible for defining and implementing process and procedure surrounding AIR's growing consulting business. In addition, Ms. Jones will lead AIR management projects and provide mentoring to associate staff. Ms. Jones has worked in the insurance industry for nearly ten years and brings to AIR significant underwriting Underwriting 1.
