AIOU establishes camp office at Bahawalpur on PM directives.

ISLAMABAD, January 19, 2011 (Balochistan Times): As per instruction of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Prof. Dr. Nazir Ahmed Sangi, Vice-Chancellor, Allama Iqbal Open University established a Camp Office of the University in Bahawalpur. A Civil Engineer has also been appointed in order to look into the possibility of constructing own building of the University. Dr. Sangi also deployed ancillary staff and arranged a tractor to speed up the process of developmental work. He also ordered to start the tree plantation and installation of a tube-well in the plot of University at Bahawalpur where building of Regional Campus will be constructed. While addressing to an emergency meeting for construction of University building in Bahawalpur, Dr. Sangi said that the University was also planning to establish Institutes of Rural Development and Renewable Energy in near future. Dr. Sangi said that Rural Development Institute of the University would prepare models of socio-economic education and technical & vocational education. AIOU has completed basic procedures and processes for constructions of own buildings and establishment of full-fledged Regional Campuses in Rahim Yar Khan, Liya and Muzaffar Garh, he added. Dr. Sangi further said that in the light of directives of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, the University would provide the opportunities of income generation, social upgradation and higher education for uplifting of living standards of youth and housewives of southern Punjab.
