AIM; Region targets quality recruits as Thomas builds for future.

THE BLUES are planning to bring in two more "top-quality" signings for next season's move to their new home.

Chairman Peter Thomas says they are currently in negotiations to fill two positions as they look to build on the success of this term.

"We've got Sam Norton-Knight Sam Norton-Knight was (born 2 December, 1983 in Canberra) is an Australian rugby union footballer. He currently plays for the New South Wales Waratahs in the international Super 14 competition. He was born in Canberra but was educated on the Gold Coast.  coming in at 10, Gareth Cooper Gareth Cooper (born 7 May 1979 in Bridgend) is a Wales international rugby union player who plays at scrum-half.

Cooper studied Sports Science at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff.
 at 9 and Gavin Evans Gavin Evans (born 18 July, 1984) is a Welsh rugby union rugby player, currently playing for the Llanelli Scarlets in the Celtic League. His usual position is in the centres. In 2006 he was called up into the Welsh national team squad for the November Test series.  in the centre and we are looking at two other positions to strengthen the squad further," he said..

"We are currently in negotiations to try and fill those positions by the start of next season.

"We are looking for top quality.

"If there is a particular position that we want to fill, we want the very best available in that position.

"And, if for whatever reason, someone leaves, then the person who comes in has to be at least the same level - if not better..

"Next year we will have a reduced squad, but a quality one, of around 34-36 players, plus 12 Academy players." Thomas - who has seen the Blues reach today's EDF (algorithm) EDF - earliest deadline first.  Cup final against Gloucester at Twickenham and the Heineken Cup semi-finals - continued: "I want us to be recognised over the next few years in the same breath as Munster, Leicester and Toulouse..

"The only way that you do that is put all the pieces of the jigsaw into place.

"We've got a new training centre up at the Vale now and we are about to move into a new stadium.

"It's just going to be amazing, it really will be.

"The facilities for the players to train and play are going to be second to none and the quality of squad must match that.

"It must be up to the top level.

"We are very proud of the team we have got and we'll continue to look to strengthen it in the future."
