 AIG ANNOUNCES NEW EXECUTIVE APPOINTMENTS
 AT NATIONAL UNION FIRE INSURANCE COMPANY
 NEW YORK, May 28 /PRNewswire/ -- American International Group, Inc. (NYSE: AIG) has announced several new executive appointments in its National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh subsidiary.
 Kristian P. Moor, 33, has been named president of National Union's Management Liability Division, responsible for all commercial management liability products. Prior to this appointment, Moor was a senior vice president of National Union's Management Liability Division. He joined AIG in 1981 as an underwriter and has held a succession of underwriting positions in AIG's Domestic Brokerage Group. He is a graduate of Bryant College, Smithfield, RI, with a degree in finance, and holds an M.B.A. from Pace University in New York.
 Lena Mkhitarian, 33, has been appointed president of the Financial Institutions Division of National Union, consisting of units responsible for diversified financial institutions, banks and community banks respectively. Mkhitarian also was previously a senior vice president of National Union's Management Liability Division, responsible for directors and officers and errors and omissions coverage for financial institutions worldwide. She is a graduate of New York University.
 Mary Ann Eddy, 43, has been appointed senior vice president of the Management Liability Division, reporting to Moor. In her new position, she will have responsibility for National Union's Middle Market business. Eddy had been a vice president of National Union's Management Liability Division with responsibility for middle market directors and officers liability insurance. She joined AIG in 1988. Eddy holds a B.A. degree from Northwestern University and an M.B.A. from Stanford University.
 Also reporting to Moor will be Peter W. Wilson, 32, who has been named senior vice president of National Union's Management Liability Division responsible for major accounts. Wilson joined AIG in 1983 as an underwriter in the commercial directors and officers division of National Union and later was assistant division manager in the Financial Institutions Division. Most recently, he was divisional vice president of National Union with global responsibility for commercial directors and officers liability insurance. Wilson is a graduate of Syracuse University with a B.A. degree in Economics.
 Commenting on the new appointments, William D. Smith, president of National Union, said, "These organizational and executive changes reflect the growth of our key market segments and are designed to enable National Union to achieve greater focus on opportunities in our principal business areas. Each of these executives has long experience in their particular areas and will add to the depth of National Union's management team."
 The other two major components of National Union are the Professional Liability Division, headed by Frank Patalano, and the Bond Division, headed by Mark Reagan. Within the Professional Liability Division, a new unit has been created responsible for the rapidly growing healthcare professional market.
 National Union is the leading U.S. provider of directors and officers and professional and management liability insurance. It is also a major writer of fidelity and surety lines, and is a principal component of AIG's Domestic Brokerage Group, which comprises the company's core U.S. insurance business.
