AIFF's new Asian cinema.The 27th edition of the Asian American International Film Festival (AIFF AIFF - Audio IFF ) received sponsorship from HBO Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) A form of oxygen therapy in which the patient breathes oxygen in a pressurized chamber. More than 40 features, docs, videos and works-in-progress were screened at New York's Asia Society and nearby ImaginAsian theater last July, with part of the show touring the U.S. afterwards. "We hope that the Asian American Film Festival achieved its goals of attracting a new audience," commented Festival Director Diana Lee. According to a Festival spokesperson, budget restraints required journalists and directors to pay to screen some films and attend the events. The Festival opened with commercial thriller Goddess of Mercy by Hong Kong director Ann Hui and closed with Bollywood blockbuster Tomorrow Never Comes by Nikhil Advani. Documentaries and shorts bridging East to West included Lest We Forget Lest We Forget is a phrase popularised in 1887, by Rudyard Kipling; it formed the refrain of his poem Recessional.
