AICPA to recognize industry CPA of the year.

The AICPA board of directors approved the establishment of an annual award honoring an outstanding CPA in business and industry. The award will recognize the achievements of CPAS employed in business and industry and also will highlight the CPA designation as the premier professional credential for financial managers.

Each state CPA society is eligible to submit one nomination to the AICPA members in industry executive committee (MIEC). The MIEC will also accept nominations for the award from AICPA members and the public at large. Nominations should be accompanied by a letter of recommendation from the state society, AICPA member or the candidate's employer. Letters of recommendation should be sent to the members in industry executive committee, AICPA, 1211 Avenue of the Americas, New York, New York 10036-8775.

Candidates for the award must be AICPA or state CPA society members employed in business and industry. They should have made a significant contribution to the growth and success of their employers or to a notable entrepreneurial achievement. They also should have made a significant contribution to the growth and enhancement of the profession.

The winner will be selected by a panel of three distinguished individuals with in-depth knowledge of the business community and the accounting profession. They will not be CPAs
