The award was presented by Jeffrey R. Hoops, chair of the AICPA Tax Executive Committee, at the spring meeting of the AICPA Tax Division in New Orleans New Orleans (ôr`lēənz –lənz, ôrlēnz`), city (2006 pop. 187,525), coextensive with Orleans parish, SE La., between the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain, 107 mi (172 km) by water from the river mouth; founded , Louisiana Louisiana (ləwē'zēăn`ə, l ē'–), state in the S central United States. Mr. Einhorn is a partner in Deloitte Tax LLP LLP - Lower Layer Protocol in Washington, DC, and is the incoming chair of the AICPA Tax Executive Committee. During this past year, Mr. Einhorn chaired a task force that led the AICPA's efforts to get Congress to correct the unequal return reporting standards that were enacted in May 2007. Mr. Einhorn also chairs the AICPA's Circular 230 Education Task Force and is a past recipient of The Tax Adviser's Best Article Award. The Distinguished Service Award is given annually for an outstanding current contribution to the AICPA Tax Division. Through an extraordinary personal effort, the recipient must have made a substantial contribution to the Tax Division's mission, which is serving the public interest by assisting AICPA members to be the most trusted professional providers of tax services and by advocating sound tax policy and effective tax administration. |
