AICPA members named to Advisory Council.


Six members of the American Institute of CPAs have been named to the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council, which advises the Financial Accounting Standards Board Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB)

Board composed of independent members who create and interpret Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
 on technical projects and priorities. Two others also were named to the council. All the new members began their one-year terms on January 1.

The new Institute members on the council are Mary E. Barth, associate professor of accounting, Stanford University Stanford University, at Stanford, Calif.; coeducational; chartered 1885, opened 1891 as Leland Stanford Junior Univ. (still the legal name). The original campus was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted. David Starr Jordan was its first president.  Graduate School of Business; Daniel J. Donoghue, executive vice-president, Duff & Phelps Credit Rating Co.; Robert R. Garland, national managing director, accounting and auditing, Deloitte & Touche; James L. Gertie, credit executive, Bank of Boston Corporation; Samuel P. Gunther, attorney; and Harold L. Monk Jr., managing partner, Davis, Monk & Co.
