AICPA launches governmental audit quality center.


The Institute established a voluntary-membership community for CPA (Computer Press Association, Landing, NJ) An earlier membership organization founded in 1983 that promoted excellence in computer journalism. Its annual awards honored outstanding examples in print, broadcast and electronic media. The CPA disbanded in 2000.  firms that provide audit or attest To solemnly declare verbally or in writing that a particular document or testimony about an event is a true and accurate representation of the facts; to bear witness to. Purchasers of government audit services will be able to identify participating firms through the center's Web site. The new center is the third of its kind established by the Institute in 2004. Two others--one for public company audit firms and another for firms auditing employee benefit plans--began operation in January and March, respectively.
