AICPA announces three outstanding CPAs in Government Award.Three AICPA AICPA See American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). members have been honored with the 2006 Outstanding CPA (Computer Press Association, Landing, NJ) An earlier membership organization founded in 1983 that promoted excellence in computer journalism. Its annual awards honored outstanding examples in print, broadcast and electronic media. The CPA disbanded in 2000. in Government Award. The awards recognize CPAs working in the federal, state and local levels of government who have made significant contributions to the increased efficiency and effectiveness of government organizations and to the growth and enhancement of the profession. The awards were presented by AICPA Chair Leslie Murphy at the Institute's 23rd Annual National Governmental Accounting Governmental accounting is an umbrella term which refers to the various accounting systems used by various public sector entities. In the United States, for instance, there are three levels of government which follow different accounting standards set forth by independent, private and Auditing Update Conference. This is the first year the AICPA has selected a winner at all three levels of government. In prior years, one award was granted each year on a rotating basis among the different levels of government.
