AICPA, others partner to form think tank on wealth-building.

The AICPA's Tax and Personal Financial Planning membership sections have banded with several other major legal and financial service organizations to help address the different disciplines that today make up financial and wealth preservation and planning. The new think tank, called The Synergy Summit, will study, debate and render opinions on appropriate issues of mutual interest. These seven organizations together represent more than 200,000 accountants, lawyers, financial planners, insurance and other professionals.

In addition to the AICPA, The Synergy Summit's members are: the National Academy of Elder Law elder law n. a newly-coined vague term covering estate planning, wills, trusts and the problems of older people. Essentially it is a sales gimmick to attract older clientele. Attorneys, the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils, the American Bar Association American Bar Association n. the largest organization of American lawyers, which has no official standing, but is prestigious in formulating guidelines for the practice of law, giving direction to legislation, lobbying for the law profession, and evaluating Federal judges. Less then one-third of attorneys belong to the A.B.A., and it is often dominated by the larger urban law firms and those who are interested in bar association politics. (Real Property, Probate and Trust Section), the American Bar Association (Estate & Gift Tax Committee of the Tax Section), and the Society of Financial Service Professionals.

Through The Synergy Summit, chaired during 2006 by Harold A. Schwartz Jr., Esq. of Chattanooga, Tenn., these organizations bring to their respective members and national policymakers the coordinated thinking and integrated actions of the nation's largest and most influential financial services organizations.

Information about The Synergy Summit and its constituent organizations is available on its Web site at www.synergypro.org or by linking from http://tax.aicpa.org/Resources/ Trust+Estate+and+Gift/.
