AIB offers new marketing diploma. (ABA Resources).A marketing diploma is being offered through the American Institute of Banking (AIB), the ABA affiliate that provides continuing education and training to bankers nationwide. The diploma is designed for bankers who have some marketing experience, but are not yet ready or interested in participating in the ABA School of Bank Marketing and Management. Those who might be interested in the diploma include junior-level marketers who have some marketing experience, but are new banking; bank employees not now involved in marketing but interested in pursuing it as a career; and branch managers with responsibility for selling their bank's products and services. To obtain the diploma, a student must complete nine courses and three electives. Most of the courses can be taken online, but some are available only through regular classroom attendance. The nine required courses include principles of banking, marketing financial services, economics, profitable accounts, identifying and leveraging target markets, successful sales campaigns, managing time at work, budget development and project management. Descriptions of each class are available in the course catalog posted under the AIB section of the ABA website, aba.com. A typical student could complete the requirements and obtain the marketing diploma in about two years, according to AIB.
