KIERANS FRAUDSTERS are trying to access AIB accounts with a fake email, the Irish Daily Mirror can reveal. After being tipped-off by worried customers, the bank warned clients not to reply or give out any of their details. A spokeswoman at the AIB Security Centre said: "It is clearly a fraudulent email and a new attempt to extract personal details from customers by telling them they are eligible for a tax refund. "We've never come across this particular email before." The email tells the AIB Netbank member: "After the last annual calculations of your AIB activity you are eligible to receive a tax refund of EUR EUR In currencies, this is the abbreviation for the Euro. Notes: The currency market, also known as the Foreign Exchange market, is the largest financial market in the world, with a daily average volume of over US $1 trillion. 230.50." It adds a refund can be delayed for a variety of reasons including the submission of invalid records or missing the deadline. It then asks customers to submit the tax refund request which asks for their personal access code and their phone number. The bank source added AIB would never contact any customer via email. She said: "Our advice would be not to open any emails purporting to the from AIB.
