AIA has mixed greens on menu.

The Skyscraper Museum has announced its Mixed Greens series, a survey of the state-of-the-art in international sustainable skyscraper design.

The lecture series features architects whose work on high-performance high-rises has pioneered the field, setting new standards for environmentally conscious urbanism. Presented in conjunction with The New York Academy of Sciences The New York Academy of Sciences is the third oldest scientific society in the United States. An independent, non-profit organization with more than 25,000 members in 140 countries, the Academy’s mission is to advance understanding of science and technology. , Mixed Greens will take place at an appropriate green-tower venue--the new NYAS Ny´as

Brandon Haw haw, common name for several plants, e.g., the hawthorn and the black haw (see honeysuckle). , a senior partner of London-based Foster + Partners will speak on February 22, offering a survey of the firm's international green portfolio, from Frankfurt's Commerzbank and London's "Gherkin gherkin (gûr`kĭn), species of gourd of the cucumber genus. " to towers in Riyadh, Shanghai, and Seoul. Haw led the Foster team for New York's Hearst Tower and will discuss new projects, including Tower 2 for Silverstein Properties at Ground Zero.

On March 15, Helmut Jahn, president of Chicago-based Murphy/Jahn, will describe his approach of "Archi-Neering" in which his team of collaborators create high-tech material and structural solutions in steel and glass that offer lightness as well as high-energy efficiencies.

On April 5, Ken Yeang, whose design philosophy has focused on low-tech, "bio-climatic" skyscrapers will describe his work. Dr. Yeang is a principal in the Kuala Lumpur-based firm TR Hamzah Hamzah is an Arabic name that is used throughout the Muslim world.

His research, writings, and buildings emphasize an ecological approach that considers the nature of the site and employs passive, low-energy design. In his most recent work, EcoDesign: A Manual for Ecological Design, Yeang reconstructs and revisions how and why current design approach and perception of architecture must radically change to ensure a sustainable future.

The series will conclude on May 8, with a presentation of the Pearl River Tower This article or section contains information about expected future buildings or structures.
