The Commander series server packages include Squadron software on Sun Ultra 5(TM), 10(TM), 60(TM) and 450(TM) systems, and the Wingmen client packages ship on powerful Windows-based PCs. Currently, Squadron supports multiple printer connectivity from Danka, Oce and Xerox. Squadron, a powerful document management system, uses JAVA client server software to control jobs, printers, and servers within a network or worldwide via the Internet. Servers can be added in different locations, share resources and printers, and become one homogenous ho·mog·e·nous (h -m j![]() -n print environment. Squadron supports an unlimited number of Danka Digimaster 9110 printers, Oce Demand Stream printers with Prisma APA controllers and the Xerox 6135, 6180 and DocuTech 135 printers, as well as most popular file formats including Postscript Level 3, PDF, HP/PCL 5e, HP-GL HP-GL - Hewlett Packard-Graphics Language-2 and CCITT See ITU. Group 4. Prints can also be sent to Lexmark, Hewlett-Packard, and Xerox desktop printers for easy proofing and offloading. For seamless integration, all jobs are stored with complete job ticket information, and Squadron automatically sets up jobs to print identically on different printers. Squadron software is designed to increase productivity, RIP speeds and document control in professional print-on-demand environments. The Commander 450 system, for example, supports up to four processors to enable the simultaneous printing of four printers, with speeds of up to 500 ppm at 600 dpi. The list price for the Commander packages begins at $29,610; additional annual software and hardware maintenance is required. Client software is always included with Squadron software and includes powerful job submission and status features like preflight and book viewer tools. Wingman client workstations come pre-configured on high-end Windows NT-based PCs so users can start printing right away.
