AHRC pays tribute to Brian Gell.

) at the foundation's 24th Annual "A Special Night for Special Children" benefit dinner.

"AHRC's work with the developmentally disabled is unparalleled in its excellence, and I'm proud to be associated with one of New York's most vital nonprofit organizations for over 15 years," said Gell.

AHRC's M. Anthony Fisher Humanitarian Award is given to the individual who best exemplifies the ideals of the association through outstanding community service and commitment to the organization. Mr. Gell is one of the founding co-chairmen of AHRC's Annual Golf Classic--currently in its 13th year--and over $3.6 million has been raised through this event. In addition to playing an integral role in AHRC's fundraising efforts, Gell also assisted AHRC in fulfilling one of its long-term strategic objectives--owning its own headquarters in New York City New York City: see New York, city.

. Gell orchestrated the purchase of 83 Maiden Lane, a 13-story, 175,000 s/f building. This enabled the organization to move its headquarters downtown from 200 Park Avenue South.

Not only did the transaction provide a cost-effective solution for AHRC's long-term occupancy needs, it served as a key milestone in the rebirth of lower Manhattan Lower Manhattan is the southernmost part of the island of Manhattan, the main island and center of business and government of the City of New York. Lower Manhattan is generally defined as the area delineated on the north by Chambers Street, on the west by the Hudson River (North  and was awarded the Real Estate Board of New York's 2005 Most Ingenious Sales Transaction.
