The goal of this program is to ensure an adequate supply of nurse educators/faculty to educate the number of nurses needed to provide quality health care for all Vermonters.

The Primary Care Educational Loan Repayment Program is funded by the State of Vermont, through the Department of Health. It is administered by the University of Vermont, College of Medicine, Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) Program. The purpose of the program is to ensure a stable and adequate supply of primary care providers to meet the health care needs of Vermonters.

The Primary Care Educational Loan Repayment Program includes family practice, general internal medicine, general pediatrics pediatrics (pēdēă`trĭks), branch of medicine dedicated to the attainment of the best physical, emotional, and social health for infants, children, and young people generally. , obstetrics/gynecology, and psychiatry psychiatry (səkī`ətrē, sī–), branch of medicine that concerns the diagnosis and treatment of mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, including major depression, schizophrenia, and anxiety. .
