AHEAD OF THE CURVE.Quadrophenia: Scooter-riding, leather-clad mods rebelling against the upper class are back in L.A. On screen at least. They're the subject of "Quadrophenia," the classic 1979 film by Franc Roddam. Inspired by The Who's landmark concept album and featuring some of composer Pete Townsend's most ambitious music, the film screens at the Egyptian Theater August 2. Phil Daniels stars and takes on Britain's class and education system. Sting, in his acting debut, joins in the mayhem. A reception in the Egyptian's courtyard follows the screening. In Real Life: Writer, actress and singer Charlayne Woodard stages her onewoman show, "In Real Life," at the Mark Taper Forum The Mark Taper Forum is a small thrust stage with 745 seats at the Los Angeles Music Center built by Welton Beckett and Associates. It has presented innovative plays since 1967. The world premiere of Angels In America was produced here. on July 29. The performance is about Woodard's own story of success on Broadway and the price she paid for it, opens July 29. A gifted storyteller, Woodard brings to life characters in a chain of vignettes. Rat Fink Tribute: Ed Roth, the Beverly Hills-born artist and innovator of the popular Rat Fink animated character, will be honored at the 2nd annual Rat Fink Party on July 21 at the Disabled American Veterans The Disabled American Veterans, or DAV, is an organization for disabled veterans that helps them and their families through various means.
