AGUILAR'S INTERCEPTION SAVES GLENDALE VICTORY : GLENDALE 19, BURBANK 18.

Byline: Dwayne Finley Special to the Daily News

Glendale High School's David Aguilar intercepted Burbank quarterback Bryan Ling ling: see cod.  at the Glendale 25-yard line with 1:30 left in the game Thursday night to preserve a 19-18 nonleague win for the visiting Dynamiters at Burroughs.

Ling, who came on in the fourth quarter in place of starter Matt Pike Matt Pike was the guitarist of stoner rock/metal band Sleep and is now the guitarist/vocalist of the Bay Area stoner metal band High on Fire. High on Fire is, as of 2006, on a consistent touring schedule, and their contract with Relapse Records is still active.  (1 of 13, 9 yards), almost sparked a come-from-behind victory by the Bulldogs (0-2), who have lost 17 in a row.

After Burbank took over at its own 27 with 2:18 remaining, Ling connected on a 10-yard pass to Nick Behunian and a 21-yarder to Jason Edwards Jason Edwards is a musician and producer born in 1969 in Tamworth, Birmingham, UK.

He is most well known for being the guitarist in U.K hard rock/ metal outfit 'Wolfsbane', who had considerable success in the early 90s, signing to Rick Rubins 'Def American' label.
.

But two plays later, Ling was intercepted by Aguilar.

``We were in a basic cover-four defense,'' Aguilar said. ``I was a little scared there because they were getting real close to our goal line. But luckily he threw the ball right to me.''

Glendale (1-1) had broken a 12-12 tie when Paul Berroya caught a 26-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jeremy Callister on a 4th-and-9 play with 11:49 left in the game.

Callister completed 10 of 18 passes for 92 yards with no interceptions.

Ling, who completed 5 of 8 for 99 yards, threw a 26-yard pass to Edwards before scoring on a 1-yard keeper with 7:16 left in the game to pull Burbank within 19-18. But a holding penalty, then a fumble hurt the Bulldogs' attempt for a go-ahead, two-point conversion In American football and Canadian football, a team may try to score a two-point conversion (score two points) instead of an extra point (one point) immediately after it scores a touchdown. .

Glendale had jumped to a 12-0 lead on touchdown runs of 5 and 2 yards by Max Maxwell, who finished with 88 yards rushing on 24 carries.

Burbank marched back to tie the game on a 77-yard punt return In American and Canadian football a punt return is one of the punt receiving team's options to respond to a punt.
