AGT accelerating re-engineering project with $2.7 million purchase.

CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 18, 1996--Intergraph Canada Ltd. and AGT Limited recently achieved a milestone in the evolution of reducing operating costs to enhance customer service for telephone and telecommunications users.

AGT has made the decision to complete the company's IMAGE project in 1996 that uses Intergraph's TD-30 workstations and FRAMME software running on Windows NT.

The IMAGE (Integrated Mapping and Geo-demographic Environment) project, initiated in January 1993, has automated AGT's Access Transport Network (ATN) records and integrated the data into an enterprise-wide system. The November 1995 decision to complete the project in 1996 added 85 seats of FRAMME software and 100 TD-30s, and will notably assist in increasing the productivity of AGT's operations. For example, many telco processes can be enhanced, such as trouble call management, system maintenance and network management.

"IMAGE is a culmination of a two year working relationship between AGT and Intergraph to combine the benefits of process-reengineering with automated technology," says Russ Hall, general manager of Intergraph Canada. "We are pleased that when AGT was looking for ways to increase productivity for the system, our FRAMME software running on Intergraph's TD-30 workstations were the products of choice."

Before the IMAGE project was established, most of AGT's records were paper-based and carried out in hybrid manual and automated environment. Since 1994, Intergraph Canada, as the prime contractor, has been working with a team of AGT employees, conversion vendors and third-party software developers to automate AGT's enterprise. Today, with the AM/FM system implemented and approximately 30 percent of the records in the conversion process, AGT is forecasting the IMAGE project will come in ahead of schedule and under budget.
