AGS FOUNDER JOINS BOARD OF SPECTRUM SIGNAL PROCESSING

 BURNABY, British Columbia, Nov. 1 /PRNewsire/ -- Spectrum Signal Processing Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: SSPIF; Toronto, Vancouver: SSY), the North American market leader in Digital Signal Processing (DSP) systems and computer telephone products, today announced that Joseph Abrams, a director of Merisel (NASDAQ: MSEL) has joined Spectrum's board of directors.
 Abrams was the founder and president of AGS Computers which grew to sales of $300 million before it was acquired by Nynex in 1988. He then became a director of Microamerica which was merged with Softsel in 1990 to form Merisel, a $3 billion computer products distribution company.
 Abrams said, "Digital signal processing is the way of the future for the computer peripherals and software market. Spectrum Signal has an impressive and growing list of Fortune 500 customers with spectacular opportunities in high growth market segments and DSP based solutions for PCs."
