AGREEMENT COMBINES INTERNET SERVICES & HEALTH DATA NETWORK.

IBM and Healtheon Corp. have signed a joint marketing and service agreement for Healtheon's Internet-based services and IBM's Health Data Network applications. This enables physicians and sponsored consumers to connect to their hospitals, health plans, managed care organizations, labs and pharmaceutical companies through Internet technology. This agreement gives customers access to complementary solutions that combine the best of each company's offerings in healthcare online applications and services. Healthcare organizations will now be able to contract with either IBM or Healtheon to purchase solutions and services from both companies. This new relationship leverages both Healtheon's Internet-based services and IBM's Health Data Network applications. The following applications from IBM will be available under this agreement: --Master Person Index (MPI) -- A mechanism for identifying patients across disparate systems. --Clinical Data Repositories -- A complete clinical patient history. --Global Registration -- Registers patients at any point in the healthcare history. Healtheon will provide the following Internet-based applications: -- Eligibility -- Health plan coverage --Referrals -- Claims Submissions -- Lab Orders and Results -- Benefits Administration -- Consumer enrollment and benefits information.
