AGL Resources to Expand Itron's Mobile Automatic Meter Reading Technology into Florida and Virginia; Mobile AMR Technology Already Deployed in Georgia and New Jersey.

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Itron, Inc. (NASDAQ:ITRI) announced today that AGL Resources (NYSE:ATG), an Atlanta-based energy services holding company, has agreed to a five-year contract with Itron to purchase AMR modules and related meter reading equipment over the next five years. The agreement includes the expansion of Itron Mobile Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) technology into two additional states -- Florida and Virginia where AGL has approximately 375,000 meters today.

For more than 20 years, AGL Resources has utilized Itron's meter reading technology to increase operational efficiency, improve meter reading and billing accuracy and save time and money. Three generations of gas modules have been deployed on meters at AGL -- the company has used every vintage of gas AMR endpoints produced by Itron. To date, Itron has shipped more than 1.5 million AMR modules to all of the combined AGL subsidiaries. The new contract provides for Itron to be the AMR and meter reading equipment provider throughout the AGL group and purchase orders will be issued by AGL throughout the five year term.

Itron's industry leading AMR technology enables utilities to collect data from electric, natural gas and water meters automatically via radio signal. As a result, utilities are able to read meters efficiently and accurately, while eliminating the need for meter readers to access the customers' properties every month. To date, Itron has shipped nearly 50 million automated meters and AMR modules to utilities worldwide.
