) today announced Douglas N. Schantz has been named president of the company's Houston-based Sequent (Sequent Computer Systems, Inc., Beaverton, OR, www.sequent.com) A computer company founded in 1983 by 17 ex-employees of Intel that specialized in multiprocessing systems for the client/server environment.  Energy Management subsidiary.

He will report to Richard T. O'Brien, executive vice president and chief financial officer of AGL Resources and chief executive officer of Sequent.

Schantz will be responsible for leading all aspects of Sequent's operations, including natural gas asset management, supply and distribution, and producer services. He also will play a key role in developing and implementing long-term growth and business expansion plans for Sequent.

Schantz comes to AGL Resources with 20 years of experience in the energy industry and natural gas markets, most recently with Houston-based Cinergy Marketing & Trading, a subsidiary of Cinergy Corp., where he served as vice president-marketing and business development. In that role, he was responsible for developing and implementing market strategies and completing business development transactions that enabled Cinergy to expand its role in the natural gas industry and substantially increase its geographic scope and market share. Prior to joining Cinergy, he was executive vice president and general manager for KN Marketing, L.P., a subsidiary of Kinder-Morgan, Inc., where he was instrumental in expanding KN Marketing into a top-10 North American North American
