AGENT PROVOCATEUR; FA CUP FINAL CHELSEA v EVERTON, WEMBLEY STADIUM, KICK-OFF 3PM.

Byline: DAVID David, in the Bible
David, d. c.970 B.C., king of ancient Israel (c.1010–970 B.C.), successor of Saul. The Book of First Samuel introduces him as the youngest of eight sons who is anointed king by Samuel to replace Saul, who had been deemed a failure.

PHIL NEVILLE Philip John Neville (born January 21, 1977 in Bury, Greater Manchester) is an English footballer, who plays for Everton. He previously played for Manchester United. He is younger brother of Manchester United captain Gary Neville, and the twin of England netball international  will accept the adoration adoration,

of a rabid Everton support today, with the belief that the "Manc" has finally been accepted.

For the Blues skipper, leading his side out at Wembley in an FA Cup Final will rank as his greatest personal achievement, even above the honours he won at Old Trafford Old Trafford commonly refers to two sporting arenas:
  • Old Trafford (football ground), home of Manchester United F.C.
  • Old Trafford (cricket ground), home of Lancashire County Cricket Club.
, such is his passion for the Merseyside club.

Yet it wasn't always mutual. Neville reckons it has taken almost four years to win over suspicious fans after arriving from Manchester United.

And he revealed that even his own team-mates were highly suspicious that he might be a "spy" in the camp, with many waiting a whole season before finally accepting him as their leader.

"Scoring in the penalty shoot-out against United in the semi finally dispelled a lot of myths about me," explained Neville.

"If I'm honest, it's probably taken me that long to win some of the fans over. You get moments in your career where you have got to say my time has come.

"I had a feeling the game was going to go to penalties. I had to put my balls on the line and it was a special moment.

"I was in Wembley Stadium For the old stadium, see Wembley Stadium (1923). For the railway station, see Wembley Stadium railway station.

Football in England
, the pinnacle of football, I had played well in the game, I was playing for the club I love playing for against the club I used to love playing for.

"It was like Christmas Day at home when your dad says it doesn't get much better than this with all your family around you. That is what it felt like. It was one of the happiest moments of my career."

For Neville, it has been a long, hard road to the celebrated position he now enjoys with the fans.

You cannot overstate the influence Neville has had on Everton. Manager David Moyes David William Moyes (b. April 25, 1963 in Glasgow, Scotland) is a football manager and former player. He is currently the manager of Everton F.C.. He has twice been named, in 2003 and 2005, as the 'League Managers' Association manager of the year', and is one of the younger  believes his skipper has helped create the incredible spirit that unites his team and makes them such a force in the Premier League.

Neville's attitude is infectious and he revealed that the ideas he brought from Old Trafford have been adopted by his team-mates.

"The manager has put so much faith in me. I joined a club that had finished fourth and the manager made me captain within four or five games," said Neville.

"I thought, wow, I could be upsetting a whole dressing room here. You could feel them saying, who does he think he is? I had to be strong and I was strong. I had to grit my teeth but once people worked out that all I wanted was the best for Everton and all I wanted was to be successful for the team then they accepted me.

"It probably took a season for them to fully understand that I wasn't a spy or a teacher's pet.

"Me going out 25 minutes early on to the training ground to practice wasn't me being teacher's pet. That is my fabric, that is what I have done throughout my career. It took eight to 12 months for them to realise that is what I do."

Neville's approach to every game is like it is a final, but his attitude before the semifinal against his old club sums up the man.

Realising it could go to penalties, he knew that as skipper he had to take responsibility. Even though the last spot-kick he took was as an 11-year-old boy he practised for three weeks and converted calmly on the day.

That same attitude persuades him and several team-mates to stay in a hotel the night before a game, even if the club allow them to stay at home.

But don't imagine Neville is boring. His serious attitude belies a sense of mischief A specific injury or damage caused by another person's action or inaction. In Civil Law, a person who suffered physical injury due to the Negligence of another person could allege mischief in a lawsuit in tort.  that makes him one of the squad jokers.

He added: "If I have brought anything to Everton it is the professionalism off the pitch and on it.

"Now the players are in the gym after training because that is what the top players do.

"I am not a serious person. I am laid back. If you are comparing me and my brother I am a lot more laidback. He is more intense and I am probably more approachable!

"People have asked me will I give a speech to the lads before the final, but they wouldn't listen to the Manc. I am known as the Manc.

"We'll be laughing and joking to keep the atmosphere calm, and there will be no need for a Winston Churchill speech, because this team is ready."
