Under the agreement, AGCO will start assembly of the MT700 series of Caterpillar's Challenger tractors Challenger is part of the AGCO Corporation and was formed when AGCO bought Caterpillar's agricultural tractor business in 2001. The purchase included the tracked-tractor business. AGCO later added combines, hay equipment, implements, and wheeled tractors. . It will also acquire the MT Series product design and continue marketing the tractors through its and Caterpillar's dealers worldwide, as well as through a selected network of AGCO dealers. Caterpillar will be a supplier of parts and provide technical support to AGCO. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2002. |
