AGCERT/ITOCHU MARKET GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSION REDUCTIONS.

North American-based AgCert and ITOCHU Corporation of Japan have signed an agreement for ITOCHU to market AgCert's greenhouse gas greenhouse gas
n.
Any of the atmospheric gases that contribute to the greenhouse effect.

emission reductions, which are designed to help organizations and countries reduce global warming global warming, the gradual increase of the temperature of the earth's lower atmosphere as a result of the increase in greenhouse gases since the Industrial Revolution. .

Under the agreement, ITOCHU, one of the world's largest trading companies, initially markets up to five million tons of AgCert's carbon dioxide equivalent Carbon dioxide equivalent, CO2eq or CO2e, is an internationally accepted measure that expresses the amount of global warming of greenhouse gases (GHGs) in terms of the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) that would have the same global warming  (CO2e) emission reductions in Japan. ITOCHU markets emission reductions derived from projects in Canada, Brazil and Mexico that are consistent with the Kyoto Protocol Kyoto Protocol: see global warming. .

"The agreement with ITOCHU demonstrates the global need for the kind of emission reductions that AgCert provides," said Al Tank, president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of AgCert, which has operations in Florida and Canada. "AgCert's goal is to meet the growing need for high-quality emission reductions that are consistent with the requirements of the Kyoto Accord and other domestic systems to reduce greenhouse gas emissions."

Emission reductions (ERs) result from lowering the volume of harmful greenhouse gasses, and in the past have been a part of the drive to significantly reduce levels of pollution that result in acid rain. An estimated 250 million tons of emission reductions have been traded in the past 15 years, and industry analysts expect it to become a $10-30 billion (US) annual market by 2010. Emission reductions are created when an organization lowers its own greenhouse gas emissions below a baseline, which is set by environmental laws, such as the Kyoto Protocol, or individual government regulations. Once the emission reductions are verified by a third party, they can be traded to organizations that are unable to cost-effectively lower their emissions sufficiently to meet their own targets.

AgCert has developed a unique process capable of aggregating tens of millions of tons of CO2e reductions annually worldwide. The reductions may qualify as verified emission reductions (VERs), certified emission reductions (CERs), or emission reduction units (ERUs). The company has aggregated or has plans to aggregate emission reductions in North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. , Latin America, Europe and Asia.

Its density is 1.977 grams per liter at STP. It is soluble in water, alcohol, ether, and other solvents. . The company's methodologies are consistent with the science advanced by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change “IPCC” redirects here. For other uses, see IPCC (disambiguation).
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was established in 1988 by two United Nations organizations, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the United Nations Environment

An improved AWMS often involves a practice or technology change that avoids or captures methane and nitrous oxide and other gases known as biogas bi·o·gas
n.
A mixture of methane and carbon dioxide produced by bacterial degradation of organic matter and used as a fuel.

Noun

gaseous fuel produced by the fermentation of organic waste
. Similar to methods used to capture methane in landfills, AWMS biogas may be burned to generate electric power or be simply burned off.

The sale of AgCert CERs, VERs, and ERUs, encourages farm systems to improve their AWMS, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The company has working relationships with more than 750 farms and farm systems in four countries around the world.

AgCert

AgCert, with operations in Melbourne, Florida and Alberta, Canada, is a mass producer of third-party greenhouse gas emission reductions (ER), and is capable of generating millions of tons of CO2 equivalent (CO2e) reductions annually. AgCert's unique ER production process is based on government backed, scientific, research and development. Through a consistent application of the science across nearly all geographies, the company is in the business of producing VERs, ERUs, and CERs. AgCert's emission reductions are designed to comply with the Kyoto Accords, the Marrakech Accord's Joint Implementation and Clean Development Mechanism projects, the EU Emissions Trading Scheme and Canada's pending Domestic Trading System.
