Control is passed from one layer to the next, starting at the application layer in one station, proceeding to the  TARP and more), ProtoSpecs(TM) technology for fine delineation of packet type, a simple "Make Filter" command for address, protocol and offset filter creation and modification, real-time utilization statistics for node, protocol, and filtered packet monitoring, a new Network Speeds Dialog for switching between media speeds, enhanced protocol definitions, and more.

EtherPeek for Windows v.3.0 Feature Enhancements

EtherPeek sets the industry standard for ease of use, while offering all the superior diagnostic and analysis capabilities expected of a full-featured network and protocol analyzer at a fraction of the cost of dedicated hardware-based analyzers.

The 3.0 version of EtherPeek for Windows includes the following enhancements:

-- ProtoSpecs(TM) Hierarchy in Protocol Statistics Summary

Window ProtoSpecs technology uses multiple identifiers

within a packet to create a tree-structure that specifies a

top-level or "parent" protocol (such as "IP") and

subprotocols that it contains (such as "FTP FTP
 in full file transfer protocol

" or "SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) A widely used network monitoring and control protocol. Data are passed from SNMP agents, which are hardware and/or software processes reporting activity in each network device (hub, router, bridge, etc. "). In

EtherPeek 3.0, ProtoSpecs have been added to the Protocol

Statistics window along with many new protocol definitions.

-- Plug-In Modules for Expert Packet Analysis

The current set of available Plug-Ins offer the ability for

the program to find and log duplicate IP address use,

to verify checksums, to log web usage and FTP

downloads, to provide expanded IP and AppleTalk packet

detail in the Main window, detect internet "Land"

attacks, and more.

-- Network Speed Dialog

This new dialog allows the user to dictate the network speed

for which EtherPeek will report network, node, and

protocol statistics. The default setting is Auto sense,

that is, EtherPeek will sense the speed dictated by the

Network Interface Card selected for its use. This

setting can be overidden to connect to and analyze a

different network media speed.

-- Log File Window

Log window displays information regarding EtherPeek launch

times as well as the results of packets processed

through certain Plug-Ins.

-- PageNOW! Page Server Support (personal edition) for Triggers

& Plug-Ins

-- New LAN/WAN LAN/WAN Local Area Network/Wide Area Network  Protocols added to Protocol Decoder Suite New

protocol additions include NetBIOS encapsulated in TCP/IP TCP/IP

and OSI/TARP.

-- Expanded Protocol Definitions The Protocol Info...command

provides descriptions and detailed explanations of a

protocol or subprotocol and its use.
