) equipment used in the manufacture of integrated circuits (ICs), today announced the promotion of Nitin B. Shah, 41, to the position of director of marketing and technical sales -- reporting to Derek Tomlinson, AG Associates' vice president of sales and marketing.

In his new role, Shah is chartered with promoting and positioning AG Associates and its RTP solutions worldwide, including developing marketing strategies to enhance AG Associates' line of RTP systems and increase market share. In addition, Shah is responsible for identifying and driving new market opportunities for the company, especially in the 300 mm arena.

According to Tomlinson, Shah's broad industry experience and in-depth knowledge of RTP were primary factors in this appointment.

Prior to his promotion, Shah held the position of strategic technical sales/marketing manager at AG Associates. Before rejoining AG Associates in 1993 as Customer Applications Manager for the company's Process Technology group, Shah served as senior staff engineer of customer applications for IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  Corp., where he was responsible for developing key customer accounts.

Earlier in his career, Shah served as process technology manager for AG Associates for four years. Prior to that, he spent four years with Phillips Components in the areas of process and yield improvement.

Shah holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (Kanpur, India) and a master's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh (Pittsburgh, Pa.). Shah is an author of numerous technical papers on RTP, which have been published in a total of 15 journals.
