 for DeGeneres

A day after her triumph hosting the Oscars, Ellen DeGeneres Ellen Lee DeGeneres (born January 26, 1958) is an American stand-up comedian, actress, and currently the Emmy Award-winning host of the syndicated talk show The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

DeGeneres has hosted both the Academy Awards and the Primetime Emmys.
took her talk show's fans on an emotional tour of her big night.

"Did you see the Oscars last night?" she asked her studio audience faux-innocently on a special live episode, seen on tape delay in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. . "I didn't. I was busy."

Calling the event "a crazy, crazy night," DeGeneres joked, "I'm still drunk, I'll tell ya. Has anyone seen my shoe from last night?"

During the show, DeGeneres confessed that she had injured her hand on the tambourine tambourine (tăm'bərēn`), musical instrument of the percussion family, having a narrow circular frame and a single parchment drumhead, with metal plates or jingles set in the frame.  she played at the end of her opening monologue, causing it to swell up.

would've ruined the drink," she quipped.

She also revealed that Steven Spielberg sent her flowers when she was first announced as host, along with a little piece of advice:

"Don't look at the people in the first three rows. Look way in the back of the theater; those are the ones who are going to laugh.

"People in the front are too nervous."

DeGeneres admitted that she didn't suffer from any nerves until about 30 seconds before going onstage.

"Your brain plays with you: 'What if you don't talk? What if words don't come out?'" She spoke hypothetical gibberish and wondered, "What if Jack Nicholson's the only one who understands me?"
