The valley features between 600 and 700 restaurants from Palm Springs to Indio. You can find lots of places to grab good eats at low prices - and you can also do serious damage to your credit card. Of course, what you do during the day can play a big role in your dining options. After I spent a day on the golf course and my wife was pampered pam·per tr.v. pam·pered, pam·per·ing, pam·pers 1. Las Cas is known for its margaritas, and these didn't disappoint. Since we could not order from the regular menu in the bar area and didn't want to move into the dining room, we just ordered appetizers: three orders of big Mexican shrimp on skewers. The shrimp were perfectly grilled and spiced, and we were able to make a meal of them. We didn't even miss, or need, the beans and rice. Another day of golf and spa put us in the mood for steak - and a great steak dinner is not hard to find here. Previous excursions resulted in fine meals at Ruth's Chris and Morton's. But I was always intrigued by LG's Prime Steakhouse, in part because of the ads I'd seen featuring the small chain's owner, Leon Greenberg. One of my playing partners who moved to the desert several years ago dines there frequently and said it's his favorite. We'll be repeat customers, too.
