AFSA Establishes Relief Fund for New Orleans School Administrators; Blog Set up for Member Communications.

 announced today the establishment of a relief fund for members of the Principals' Association of New Orleans Public Schools New Orleans Public Schools is a public school district that serves all of New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. The school district is governed by the Orleans Parish School Board. , Inc. (PANOPSI PANOPSI Professional Adminstrators of New Orleans Public Schools, Inc. ), AFSA Local 17 whose lives have been besieged be·siege

1. To surround with hostile forces.

 by Hurricane Katrina.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the millions of people affected by the devastation and aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, including the 150 school administrators of PANOPSI," said AFSA National President Baxter Atkinson. "Your union has not forgotten you and we are here to help you rebuild your lives."

We urge contributions to the fund. One-hundred percent of all donations will go directly to these New Orleans public school administrators to assist them in reconstructing their lives. Contributions may be made by sending a check to:

In addition, the union has set up a blog in which PANOPSI members with access to a computer may receive news about aid programs available to them, as well as communicate with their colleagues, and obtain updates on their colleagues. It is located at: panopsi.blogspot.com.
