AFS hosts open house, Chapter Officers Conference at headquarters.AFS A distributed file system for large, widely dispersed Unix and Windows networks from Transarc Corporation, now part of IBM. It is noted for its ease of administration and expandability and stems from Carnegie-Mellon's Andrew File System. AFS - Andrew File System hosted an open house at its new headquarters Aug. 3. The open house corresponded with the Chapter Officers Conference (COC See chip on chip. ) and Board of Directors Meeting. The COC brought together officers from AFS national affiliates to discuss how to keep their chapter thriving thrive intr.v. thrived or throve , thrived or thriv·en , thriv·ing, thrives 1. To make steady progress; prosper. 2. . This year's program outlined the responsibilities of each position on the chapter board and included roundtable discussions with members of the AFS national board of directors. Several members also shared techniques used within their chapters that have helped them become more successful. Conference attendees were given a tour of the new AFS/ CMI (Computer-Managed Instruction) Using computers to organize and manage an instructional program for students. It helps create test materials, tracks the results and monitors student progress. facilities during the open house. AFS also invited neighbors, past employees, and AFS members to tour the new facilities at 1695 N. Penny Lane in Schaumburg, Ill. AFS moved to this location August 2004, but work has been ongoing to turn warehouse space into meeting space for both AFS and CMI. The renovation was completed last spring. |
