AFS NW regional spotlights casting design, manufacturing.


The American American, river, 30 mi (48 km) long, rising in N central Calif. in the Sierra Nevada and flowing SW into the Sacramento River at Sacramento. The discovery of gold at Sutter's Mill (see Sutter, John Augustus) along the river in 1848 led to the California gold rush of  Foundry A semiconductor manufacturer that makes chips for third parties. In addition to plant tours of local metalcasters, pattern shops and OEMs, the regional technical conference showcased presentations from both casting manufacturers and casting end-users.

One unique aspect of the technical program was that several of the presentations, including those focused on design for manufacturing, computer-aided pattern design, casting process simulation, and gating and risering, all revolved re·volve

By focusing on this part, presenters had the opportunity to detail how some of the latest design and manufacturing processes are applied from design inception through pattern design to casting manufacturing.

Other presentations at the conference highlighted ways to improve manufacturing productivity and technical capabilities. In addition, the regional included an exposition exposition or exhibition, term frequently applied to an organized public fair or display of industrial and artistic productions, designed usually to promote trade and to reflect cultural progress.  of suppliers to the industry.
