AFS Associates Visit Local 'Real World' Foundries.AFS A distributed file system for large, widely dispersed Unix and Windows networks from Transarc Corporation, now part of IBM. It is noted for its ease of administration and expandability and stems from Carnegie-Mellon's Andrew File System. AFS - Andrew File System associates recently had the opportunity to tour two foundries and observe the metalcasting industry in action. Interesting and informative tours were provided by G & W Electric Co., Manufacturer's Brass & Aluminum, Blue Island, Illinois Blue Island (formerly Portland) is a city in Cook County, Illinois.
