AFS/CMI Makes Personnel Changes.


Listed below are individuals who recently were hired, promoted or changed positions at AFS/CMI.

Wayne Rasmussen Wayne Rasmussen was an American football player who played defensive back for the Detroit Lions.  has accepted the position of vice president of technology at AFS A distributed file system for large, widely dispersed Unix and Windows networks from Transarc Corporation, now part of IBM. It is noted for its ease of administration and expandability and stems from Carnegie-Mellon's Andrew File System.

. After 6 years as AFS technical director and another 6 years with CMI (Computer-Managed Instruction) Using computers to organize and manage an instructional program for students. It helps create test materials, tracks the results and monitors student progress. , he will be managing, marketing and coordinating the efforts and services of the Technical Dept. staff, including the library. Other responsibilities include maintaining a required liaison with members, chapters and other technical and standard-setting bodies, and providing engineering services as appropriate to experience and knowledge. Rasmussen also will initiate, organize, promote and arrange technical conferences appropriate to the needs of the industry and the Society.

Ian Kay Ian Kay (born in 1967, UK), is a convicted murderer, known as the "Woolworths Killer", and notable for committing an attack which cost the infamous serial killer Peter Sutcliffe the use of one eye. , who has worked as vice president of Information Technology Services (ITS) for the last 8 months, has rejoined CMI as executive director of education and will oversee the day-to-day administration and operation of its programs and facilities. Among his responsibilities are developing CMI's annual budget and providing semi-annual and annual reports of its programs to the board of directors.

Grant Denten, who joined AFS in September as ITS systems analyst, will assume the responsibilities of managing the computer department and mailroom mail·room

John Roper has been named group leader for printing and mailing. He will oversee and coordinate all printing, the automated mailing system, and shipping and receiving. He also will assist with outsourcing to vendors.

Rob Moll joined AFS in January as Bryce operator and will be responsible for preparing and shipping all bulk mailings. He previously worked for Treasure Chest, a printing company in Elk Grove Village, Illinois Elk Grove Village is a municipality located in northeastern Illinois adjacent to O'Hare International Airport and the City of Chicago. Elk Grove Village encompasses 10.9 square miles in land area with 10.5 square miles located in Cook County and 0. , as a manager in shipping and receiving.
