AFGHANISTAN May 9 - Taliban Closes 4 UN Offices.


The Taliban Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammed Osman Sheryar says 4 offices of the UN Special Mission to Afghanistan (UNSMA UNSMA United Nations Special Mission in Afghanistan ) will be closed in retaliation RETALIATION. The act by which a nation or individual treats another in the same manner that the latter has treated them. For example, if a nation should lay a very heavy tariff on American goods, the United States would be justified in return in laying heavy duties on the manufactures and  for the closure of the Taliban's New York New York, state, United States
New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
 unofficial mission headed by Hakim Mujahid following the imposition of UN sanctions in Jan. 2001. However, the main office of the UNSMA will continue to function in Kabul. A senior UNSMA official Thomas Rutting says the closure of UNSMA offices will further deepen the regime's international isolation. UN Sec. Gen. Kofi Annan's representative Francesc Vendrell says: "The unwillingness of the Taliban to negotiate... with the (opposition) United Front through the good offices of the UN is of course regrettable", adding that he supports the presence of a Taliban representative in New York to maintain contacts with the ruling Afghan militia militia (məlĭsh`ə), military organization composed of citizens enrolled and trained for service in times of national emergency. Its ranks may be filled either by enlistment or conscription.  but the US opposed it.
