The legislation is designed to calm the volatile natural gas market through conservation and energy efficiency, improvements to the energy infrastructure, increased supply, and advances in fuel diversity. Washington, D.C.-based AF & PA also praised the U.S. House of Representatives for passing the Energy Policy Act of 2005 (H.R. 6) by a 249-183 vote. The bill, long supported by AF & PA, is seen by AF & PA as a first step in bringing relief to America's manufacturers by establishing a sensible national energy policy.
