AES Executive Ned Hall Joins American Wind Energy Association Board of Directors.

ARLINGTON, Va. -- The AES Corporation (NYSE:AES) today announced that Ned Hall, AES Vice President of Wind Generation, was appointed to the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) Board of Directors. AWEA is a member association that has represented the interests of the wind energy business in the US and abroad since 1974.

"At AES, we see tremendous potential for the wind sector as an increasingly viable alternative energy solution worldwide," said Ned Hall. "I am pleased to join AWEA's Board of Directors and to help further the development of wind generation in the US and globally."

AES has invested approximately $265 million in wind generation since entering the business in 2004 and plans to triple its investment in wind generation over the next three years. AES currently operates 600 MW of wind facilities and is pursuing another 2,000 MW of wind projects in development, primarily in the US. In addition, the company is exploring wind power projects in Europe, China, India and Central and South America, with an emphasis on countries with existing AES businesses.

Ned has been with AES since 1988. His previous positions with the company include Managing Director, Business Development, where he originated and managed AES's business development opportunities, primarily in wind and liquefied natural gas (LNG). Before that, he was Group Manager responsible for development and operations in the US and international locations. He also served as Executive Vice President, AES China Generating Company. Prior to joining AES, Ned worked for the New England Electric Company.

Ned has a Master of Science degree in finance and operations management from the MIT Sloan School of Management and a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Tufts University, with a minor in engineering management. He is also a registered Professional Engineer in Massachusetts. (A photo is available upon request.)
