Schaeffer, which was bought in February by East Aurora, N.Y.-based Moog Inc Moog, is a worldwide designer and manufacturer of motion and fluid controls and control systems for applications in aerospace, defense, industrial and medical device markets. ., has signed a 10-year, $5 million lease on a new building in Chatsworth that is nearly twice the size of the company's roughly 40,000-square-foot quarters.

The company, now known as Schaeffer Magnetics Division, makes high-performance motion-control devices for the aerospace industry. It will move to its 70,172-square-foot home in the 21000 block of Nordhoff Street in December, said General Manager Jay Hennig.

Now at about 160 employees, the company roster is expected to swell to about 200 over the next two years, Hennig said. The new building will give Schaeffer ample room to expand, he added.

The deal was brokered by Van Nuys-based Delphi Business Properties.

Schaeffer can retain its employees by remaining in Chatsworth, Hennig said. ``The value of the company really is the employees,'' he added.

The company was assisted by Mayor Richard Riordan's LA's Business Team, which sped up the permitting process and facilitated the electric power changeover (programming) changeover - The time when a new system has been tested successfully and replaces the old system.  to the new location. ``They really came through (for us),'' Hennig said.

Moog and Schaeffer announced in December that Moog would pay $21.7 million for the Valley aerospace company.
