Mean; belligerent. rock 'n' rollin' is the order of the day in ``The Comedy of Aerosmith,'' which superimposes the tunes of the rock group on Shakespeare's double twin farce ``The Comedy of Errors'' in ways neither the Bard bard, in Wales, term originally used to refer to the order of minstrel-poets who composed and recited the poems that celebrated the feats of Celtic chieftains and warriors. nor Steven Tyler would could have dreamt about on their worst acid trip. The Troubie inventiveness is at its bawdiest and, amid all the parodies, double entendres double entendre Noun a word or phrase with two interpretations, esp. with one meaning that is rude [obsolete French] Noun 1. and grindings by the provocatively clad Rag Dolls, this is still - amazingly - Shakespeare's story. I saw the show last summer during a hit-and-run stint at the Roxy, a venue that is probably a better fit. Although there's little risk that misguided, family-theater-seeking audiences are going to wander into Burbank's Falcon Theatre expecting ``Cinderella,'' ``Aerosmith'' happens to be an adult rock show. Security guards and a coked-up interloping guitarist named Trevor (played by Caleb Rapoport) are the keys to the action as to whether the twins Antipholi (of the Valley and Hollywood) and Dromios will discover each other and figure out the mayhem. And no joke is too crude. Director Matt Walker plays a screamingly foppish fop·pish adj. Of, relating to, or characteristic of a fop; dandified. fop pish·ly adv. Duke of Hollywood
(allowing him to sing ``The Duke Looks Like a Lady'') and is
the referee of on-stage madness, scripted or otherwise. Since the Roxy
run, an inspired Ashlee Simpson joke has entered the stew. Brad and
Jennifer are probably next to get theirs.
In brief, the show's a ``Big Ten Inch'' worth of laughs. For adults.
