Music A leading singer with a group. Steven Tyler was airlifted to hospital yesterday after dancing so enthusiastically he fell off the stage. The 61-year-old singer plunged from the platform in front of a crowd at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is a motorcycle rally held annually in Sturgis, South Dakota each first full week of August. Tyler was on the catwalk when he twirled around and suddenly fell backwards on to a couple of stunned fans. Joking Security rushed to help him and the crowd cheered when Tyler got back up. Mike Stanton, of the Buffalo Chip Campground, which hosted the gig, said: "He was good natured about it. "He was in good spirits Adv. 1. in good spirits - without losing equilibrium; "she took all his criticism in stride" in stride when he got in the helicopter. He was talking and joking with the physician. "It was an unfortunate end to an extraordinary evening." The singer, father of Armageddon star Liv Tyler, was taken offstage halfway through the midnight performance. Guitarist Joe Perry came out to tell the audience Tyler was being taken to the hospital and that the show would not go on. One fan said: "You could kind of see it coming because he was dancing all over the stage. I couldn't care less about the concert being cancelled. I hope he's OK." Tyler was flown to Rapid City Regional Hospital, but was found to have only minor injuries to his head, neck and shoulder. Aerosmith became infamous for their rock'n'roll lifestyle in the 1970s, with band members spending time in rehab.
