AER LINGUS IS NAMED OFFICIAL CARRIER FOR FIRST JAMESON IRISH WHISKEY INTERNATIONAL GOLF CHALLENGE

NEW YORK, May 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Aer Lingus, Ireland's national airline, has announced its selection as the official carrier for the Jameson Irish Whiskey International Golf Challenge to be held in Killarney, Ireland, Oct. 7-9.
This tournament will be played on three of Ireland's premier golf courses -- Ballybunion, Waterville and Killarney -- each renowned as amongst the finest courses in Europe. Teams of four players may be entered, with each of the winning foursome's members receiving the Jameson Global Trophy, crafted of Cavan Irish Crystal.
Tom Watson, who is a frequent visitor to Ballybunion Golf Club, has said of it that "....a man would consider that the game originated there." Waterville Golf Club is located on the famous Ring of Kerry and is a classic links course which has evolved into one of Ireland's finest championship facilities. The Killarney Golf & Fishing Club was the site of the 1991 Irish Open Championship and boasts one of the most scenic, yet difficult, golf courses in the country.
These, then, will be the competition courses for the Jameson Challenge in October. Teams of golfers from the United States, Ireland, Britain and many other countries will enter what is expected to be a truly international competition, but with a strong element of Irish fun added. All golfers with an official handicap are welcome to enter the Jameson International Golf Challenge and an added attraction will be the facility for golfers to represent their home countries and play for the "Champion Country" designation.
Aer Lingus and Owenoak-Castle Tours offer a six-night, seven-day program to U.S.-based golfers. Included in the cost of $1,560 per person are roundtrip Aer Lingus flights from Boston or New York; six night's accommodation at Killarney's Great Southern Hotel, with full breakfast daily; a self-drive station wagon for four people; tournament entry fees; five rounds of golf, including two practice rounds; two cocktail parties and the final night's gala dinner.
