AER Lingus appointed a new chief executive yesterday to succeed Dermot Mannion. Christoph Mueller, formerly aviation director at TUI Travel, will take up the post on October 1. Aer Lingus chairman Colm Barrington said Mr Mueller was chosen after a "rigorous recruitment campaign". He added: "We have chosen a candidate with a proven track record." Mr Mueller said there are many challenges ahead but is "excited about the medium term prospects."
