It offers an open architecture allowing it to be seamlessly integrated into existing POS systems. It debuted in 2002. Among the businesses using FastLane is Wal-Mart, the world's largest retailer. MaxValu is a subsidiary of AEON Group ÆON Group or AEON Group (イオングループ  , one of Japan's largest retailers with more than 3,000 stores globally.

Four NCR FastLane units and an attendant station were installed in November. AEON is expected to make a rollout decision following a six-month trial.
