Theron - who, don't forget, won an Oscar for Monster - played a lycrawearing freedom fighter determined to bring down the evil rulers of a walled city. And she wasn't the only so-called decent actor who signed up for this disaster, with Pete Postlethwaite, Frances McDormand and Sophie Okonedo also appearing.
